SERVICES & REPAIRS ...... SOME TIPS

I have no problems whatsoever with people not only enjoying the Ride and, also performing the work on their Motorcycles. In fact, I encourage it. I am often invited to Groups where I explain the processes involved, tools required, and how to perform what I refer to is "First Line Maintenance".

BUT, the most IMPORTANT thing one need to know is: "when you don't know, what you don't know",  know when you need help. That's what I'm here for. Call me  for a Presentation for your Group. Or, just go to the "MY BLOG"   Menu Tab and select "Contact". You are invited to send me your Questions, Comments, Concerns, ect .

01

MECHANICAL PROBLEMS

Mechanical problems don't need to cost a fortune to have corrected. But, have it done right! I see way too many people who purchase a Service Manual and try themselves and in the end, I get a "Basket Case" costing the customer often much more than had they have brought it to me in the beginning. I have a "Case Study" on my YouTube Channel of one recently. As well as my BLOG which describes such a case. 3-times the cost of the original repair if done correctly.

02

ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS

You needn't be intimidated by problems with Electrical Systems, or Electronic Devices on your Motorcycle. But, you need to know when you need help. We can help! The current "Infotainment systems" are VERY complex and require Special Tools and Software to program, add / remove, and activate portions of the system. Electronic Fuel Injection (E.F.I.) is no different. Just learn in the right setting, with the right materials and references, and some personal Coaching, and you'll have a good knowledge. Hey, Mechanics aren't smarter than anyone else, just educated in their field.

The OBD-II-CANBus is a very advanced system which monitors hundreds on inputs and outputs. Just touching a wrong wire to ground, or visa-versa can be VERY expensive in the long run. But, following the advice in the previous paragraph applies here as well. The best advice here is ....

Know what you're doing, and how to do it. BEFORE you begin!

ENGINE / TRANSMISSION REPAIRS

Engine and Transmission Repairs REQUIRE both Skills and Education to EFFECTIVELY diagnose and repair. just as important is  Having the right Speciality Tools to accomplish it. Fact is, you'll pay Hundreds of Dollars for Tools you'll only use once! And, without the extensive service related training, one can easily get in trouble trying to perform your own repairs. If you want to attempt a repair, I'll comment on why, or why not I think it's a good idea. I enjoy seeing people do their own work. But, there is no substitute for SAFETY, KNOWLEDGE, and THE RIGHT TOOLS  to do the Job correctly, efficiently, and the first time.

04

PRIMARY DRIVE

Many look at the Primary Drive as an easy adjustment. Nothing could be further from the truth. Most Big Twins have Manual or Hydraulic Clutches. Improper adjustment or maintenance can lend a BIG repair bill later. And, perhaps a Life Safety Problem as well. THIS is where all that HP and Torque is managed and sent to the rear drive wheel - There is a lot to consider before doing your own maintenance. There are several programs available on the Internet. I would urge you to get one. Anlong with a Factory Service Manual BEFORE attempting anything - Your Life may depend on it!

05

SAFETY

I WILL NOT allow a Motorcycle to leave my Shop with a Safety Issue. That is a deal-breaker! I had a Customer who needed Brake Pads - Badly! When I called he said he didn't want to have them put on at this time. I did the work anyway. When he picked his Motorcycle Up, I told him there was NO CHARGE - And, to NOT BRING IT BACK, EVER!

If you're not serious about your safety and, the safety of others, keep looking and find someone else.

Motorcycle Riders already have enough Risk to Manage. Don't be one of those Risks!
